Como es de suponer, no resulta fácil indagar sobre la violencia, así como tampoco lo es definirla, desagregarla y caracterizarla. La contingencia del concepto se asienta, justamente, en que la definición de la violencia, de los violentos y de los violentados, constituye un objeto de disputa simbólica y política. Son definiciones históricas, cambiantes según las relaciones de fuerza.
