En la primera parte se propone una breve reconstrucción de este debate. En la segunda parte, se analiza la crítica de Abbagnano a ambos modelos, al ser considerados sistemas románticos. En la tercera y cuarta parte, se analizan las condiciones epistémicas propuestas por el filósofo italiano para la historia y la sociología, resaltando la importancia de su refutación del romanticismo.
