In what follows some of these contacts will be presented with a view to new research directions in the history of reading A mediados del siglo XIX en Colombia se establece una relación entre la lectura colectiva y la privada donde las prácticas están determinadas por la fuerza de lo público. Pensar en las relaciones entre lo público y lo privado permite, en el caso de la literatura, particularmente las novelas y los cuadros de costumbres, ver cómo estas afectan la lectura en las conexiones entre el mundo del texto y el mundo del lector y la intervención del discurso nacional.
