La figura de Alfonso VI en Ia Estoria de Espanna se presenta por medio de dos tipos de discurso: el retrato inicial, que lo describe como un monarca ejemplar (capitulo 846), según la imagen del gobernante ideal de la segunda Partida, y la narración de su reinado, que revela una personalidad mucho más compleja y contradictoria (capítulos 845 y 847-964).
