El presente trabajo propone un acercamiento a Seniloquium, una obra de fundamental importancia en la literatura española, ya que se trata del primer refranero manuscrito, compuesto a fines del siglo XV. Se trata, asimismo, de un texto de singulares características, pues recoge casi 500 refranes en lengua romance, de uso corriente a fines de la baja Edad Media castellana, que el autor ordena alfabéticamente y explica a partir de glosas compuestas en latín, en las cuales acude a fuentes escritas y orales muy diversas.
