Ahora bien, ¿queda algún testimonio de elaboración poética de milagros en verso latino, como momento de transición entre la prosa en latín y la poesía en romance? La respuesta es afirmativa y es el caso de los Miracula Sancte Dei Genitricis Virginis Marie, Versifice, de Nigelo de Canterbury. Se aprecia, así, cómo una materia narrativa de uso extendido, recopilada en relatos más bien breves y en prosa, se transforma en elaboradas colecciones en verso: milagros en dísticos elegíacos, evidentemente apropiados para un público culto, de formación escolar.
