Sumario: | The intention of this work is to study the cultural identity in the appearance of the gauchesca literature (1780-1828). For doing that, the article looks through the frame of the “sainetes gauchescos” , “the “cielitos” and the “patriotic dialogues” and other sources, the horizon and feelings of belonging of a group, which reveals an identity and social culture different from the official choral version. The ironic use of the syntagma "civilization and barbarism" marks a clear counterpoint between the politically correct ideas of that time about what “civilization and barbarism" was and to whom should be assigned until this subversive use became impossible. |
