The analysis suggests that the changes evident in the areas of economics and chemical engineering are due more to a gradual process of modernization of academic activity than to a rupture associated with the political situation. It is also evident that in the establishment of the first lines and research groups coexisted different rationalities ranging from an alignment with the demands of the national government to the orientation towards the socio-product problems of the region, through the previous capacities and trajectories of its academic body and institutional inertia. |

El presente trabajo se propone indagar en las continuidades y cambios en materia de espacios curriculares, temas y áreas de investigación entre el Instituto Tecnológico del Sur (ITS) y la Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) en el marco de un contexto político de transición. El análisis sugiereque los cambios evidenciados en las áreas de economía e ingeniería química se deben más a un proceso paulatino de modernización de la actividad académica que a una ruptura asociada a la coyuntura política.
