Sumario:This paper ethnographically analyzes a policy on social crime prevention. The main objective is to study the appropriateness of incorporating gender issues in the context of this policy. Our results show that public policy agents identify that gender roles may have a significant influence on the production and acceptance of criminal practices, but in spite of this they do not achieve mechanism to dismantle them. In fact, the exchanges regarding gender roles between state agents and beneficiaries produce a disadvantaged situation for women in the program instead of modifying gender roles.
