Vara es investigadora en estudios sociales de la ciencia y la tecnología, profesora de Comunicación de la Ciencia en la UNSAM e integrante fundadora de la Red Argentina de Periodismo Científico. En esta entrevista posibilitada por la virtualidad, nos invita a reflexionar, por un lado, sobre las tensiones e interconexiones entre ciencia, tecnología y poder y la doble vía entre la mercantilización y democratización del conocimiento científico y, por otro lado, sobre el alcance de las ciencias sociales y la importancia de la comunicación responsable en temas controversiales y urgentes. Asimismo, nos interpela sobre los avatares de la pandemia a nivel global y local, hacia una comprensión histórica de las complejidades que atraviesa la ciencia en el mundo y en latinoamérica.
