This article examines the migrations to explore and understand the complexity of the dialectic relations that migrants experience when they find themselves in different cultural contexts. The cultural reading method has been adopted, which aims identify archetypes, mixed cultural elements and dominant elements that compound the repertoire of references to the individual and/or migrant group in order to get a deeper comprehension the net of intertextual meanings of the cultures involved in the symbolic migration process. A migração provoca crise de identidade com múltiplas dimensões porque o migrante não se integra completamente à cultura do lugar de destino e, por outro lado, deixa de pertencer completamente à sua cultura de origem. Pode-se assim falar em migração simbólica, que é complexo processo dialético e exige análise dos elementos constitutivos da identidade cultural, a saber: a) alteridade entre dois indivíduos ou grupos; b) contraste das semelhanças e diferenças entre dois ou indivíduos ou grupos; c) confronto identitário num certo lugar; d) confronto identitário num certo tempo; e) a atribuição de significação à relação de alteridade; f) a transcendência das semelhanças e diferenças para reorganizar os repertórios culturais que possibilitem a reprodução dos indivíduos e do sistema simbólico compartilhado. Este artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre as migrações em geral para explorar e compreender a complexidade das relações dialéticas que migrantes vivenciam no trânsito de um lugar a outro, de um repertório cultural a outro, até que lhes seja possível, talvez, transcender os conflitos inerentes a esse processo e compartilhar um sistema simbólico que lhes assegure a possibilidade de reprodução material e cultural.
