Sumario:The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of pedagogical models on the academic quality of students in the initial levels of public higher education in Cartagena de Indias. For this purpose, it was considered pertinent to characterize the public higher education institutions located in Cartagena de Indias: Institución Universitaria Mayor de Cartagena, Institución Universitaria Bellas Artes y Ciencias de Bolívar and Universidad de Cartagena, as well as to describe the pedagogical models in academic quality implemented within the institutions, and to inquire about the pedagogical strategies implemented in the institutions involved in this study and their impact on the student population in the initial levels of higher education. The methodology applied was through a qualitative and analytical approach based on a review based on the critical and systematic analysis of the bibliographic sources related to the topic, the review of institutional documents found in the platforms or official web pages of the institutions involved in this research, interviews with program directors and students.
