| Sumario: | Blockchain is a promising technology that has broad applications in many fields including the business context. The advent of blockchain technology comes with a number of issues and challenges that complicate its implementation. This technology has completely changed the current concept of centralisation, using different methods to connect and monitor transactions in blockchain technology in aspects such as decentralisation, immutability, transparency and peer-to-peer communication, which help to effectively respond to current trends. The purpose of this paper is to make an academic progress by considering the applications of blockchain in the business environment, for this purpose, a bibliometric research was conducted using the bibliographic database of scientific journal articles Scopus. Bibliographic records were analysed and the main findings were that in the last 5 years there has been an increase in the scientific production of the subject as a whole as well as applications in the field of medicine, insurance, banking, transactional and many others. Finally, limitations and future lines of research were addressed.
